Guidelines for Successfully Making and Keeping ONLINE Appointments (1) You must be enrolled at UT-Arlington and you must register with the Writing Center at www.uta.mywconline.com prior to first session;(2) Once registered, you can make appointments at the same site;(3) The Writing Center and all its staff are located in Arlington, Texas, (CST) so make your time selections accordingly;(4) All available appointments appear in white;(5) Sessions must be 45 minutes long, even though the initial time slot on your appointment form designates only 15 minutes. You must change the ending time so that the session is scheduled for 45 minutes or all of your data will reset and you will receive an error message;(6) Not all appointment times are available for online session. The final question on online eligible appointments asks if you are meeting face-to-face. Choose the drop down menu and select <No, online>. If you do not see the option <No, online>, you must select another consultation session;(7) Once you have created the appointment and saved it, you should return to the schedule. Your appointment time will appear in RED, not orange or blue. If you do not see a red box, you have made an error. Orange indicates face-to-face and you should cancel this appointment and try again.(8) Once you are certain that you have made an online appointment, you should immediately select your appointment time (your red block) and choose the RED phrase <Join or Start an online session> ;(9) A new window will pop up and you will have access to a new list of directions that will answer all of your questions about what you can do during the session and how the session will be conducted;(10) At your appointment time, return to the schedule and select your appointment (your red block). Choose the <Join Session>, sign in and begin working with your consultant, who will also sign in at the appointment time.(11) If you do not log onto the system within five minutes of the start time, you appointment will be cancelled. After two cancellations, you will not be able to make appointments in advanceImportant Notices: We are writing consultants rather than software and hardware consultants, so we are not able to determine why something is not working at your end; however, the best approach to resolving most issues is to:
Consultants are here to assist students with all phases of the invention, writing, and revision process, but they do not edit papers and do not have expertise in style and formatting guidelines. Consultants will help students identify repeating grammar errors and will also assist students in learning to better understand and use the style guide that their field dictates. For more assistance in these areas, please visit our home page at www.uta.edu/owl, where you will find other useful information and valuable links to online resources to aid you in research, grammar, and style/formatting questions. |
